A vitamin a day may just keep the doctor away.

I woke up this morning bright and early, showered, and made it all the way to work before I realized how utterly exhausted I was. I just could not wake up. It was a terrible feeling. I was sluggish and had no energy whatsoever. At least two hours passed before I started to feel more “awake” (but I’d call it more of a “not so tired I’m going to fall asleep standing up” awake).

My fiance offered me his coffee. My colleagues suggested a large bottle of coke. These sounded great… until my brain caught up with me and I remembered that I don’t drink anything with caffeine.

It wasn’t until the middle of one of my students’ prepackaged presentations that I realized I hadn’t taken my vitamin in four days. Four days!

My father always told me that I should always take my vitamin every day. He said it would keep me healthy. Last time I went vitamin-less I ended up with a strep and sinus infection that nearly closed up my throat. And I had been extremely exhausted.

Taking my vitamin every day does make me feel healthier and more energized. I guess my dad was right, a vitamin a day may just keep the doctor away.

Unfortunately, it’s a giant pill… and I can’t swallow pills for the life of me (but that’s a story for another time).
