Honey, please do this…
Yep, I finally did it. I finally made the infamous “honey-do” list.
I never thought I’d be one of those women who made a list, on paper, of things I’d need my husband to do… but apparently I am! I always had this idealistic notion that I’d never need to, that it would get done quickly and efficiently when asked.
Definitely. Not. The case.
Now don’t get me wrong, my fiance helps whenever I ask and I love him for it. It’s just sometimes it doesn’t get done as fast as I’d like it to. For instance, if I said “Honey, can you run down and check the mail?”, what I’m really implying is “Honey, can you run down as soon as humanly possible, like in the next few minutes, and check the mail?” Needless to say, I usually don’t get the response I’m ideally looking for. Let’s just say it’ll get done, oh, an hour, maybe two, later. Last night it was right before bed.
So as I was cleaning this morning, I decided to try something different. I decided to write down a few things I wanted my fiance to do or to help me with. And I wrote it nice and big on the whiteboard in his office, right in front of where he was playing on his computer!
I was blown away when, not more than a half an hour later, my fiance comes out of his office and accomplishes task number one: assemble the swiffer mop and show me how it works. I almost passed out with surprise! Mostly because I had asked him to do it yesterday…
Maybe this honey-do list isn’t such a bad idea after all.
